

Barbara Monsour Strange, age 65 of Weeki Wachee, Fl., died at her home on Saturday June 28, 2014, with her family close at her side. She was born in Shreveport, LA., to the late George & Bonnie (Cochran) Monsour, on December 7, 1948. Barbara moved to East Central Florida in 1999 form Covington, LA. She moved to Weeki Wachee in 2002. She graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans, LA with a Master’s Degree in Counseling, and her undergrad degree was in Education from Louisiana Technical College, in Bossier City, LA. Here in Hernando County she was a Guidance Counselor at Pinegrove Elementary School for 12 years. Barbara was a very devote Roman Catholic and member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Barbara was a long time member of the Alpha Delta Kappa international organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Bonnie Monsour. She is survived by her loving sons, Shannon Strange and his wife Jessica Carpenter of Brooklyn, New York, and Patrick Strange and his fiancée Jennifer Talesfore, of San Francisco, California, and granddaughter Chloe Strange, of Brooklyn, NY. Also surviving are sister, Gail Monsour and Brother Ronald Monsour, both of Shreveport, LA., and very special personal friends Michael Strange and Stephanie Gammon. A memorial gathering is planned for Thursday July 3, 2014 from 4-6 PM at the Turner Funeral Home Brooksville Chapel, 504 East Jefferson Street, Brooksville, FL 34601. The Memorial Service will be held at 5 PM with Fr. James Fleming of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church officiating. A Mass will be held in Barbara’s memory at St. Frances Cabrini, On Saturday, July 5, 2014, at 11:00 AM. Following all services Barbara will be placed with her deceased family members in her native Shreveport, LA. In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family has requested donation be made to either St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church or to the Hernando Pasco Hospice Foundation.
