  It was with a great sense of loss when we heard of our grand uncle’s passing and our hearts are truly saddened.
  Our grand uncle was more than just a wonderful person, he was always so kind and considerate to us that we always welcomed seeing him at every time. We know that his passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of all those who knew him. 
  Grand uncle will always remain within our hearts, and may God give you strength.

Kung-Kung had a very quiet, calm composure. He was a gentle soul whose face would light up when he smiled, and his laughter would fill the room with joy. He was not a man of many words, but he showed his unconditional love through his actions. He was always thinking of others. For his grandchildren, he would place orders in advance to ensure that we were able to savour our favourite Chinese dishes at the restaurant when we gathered together.  He made certain there was always enough Cantonese Chow Mein to go around for the younger ones. Thanks to him, we were always well-fed. He seemed to especially enjoy watching us pack the leftover ‘ta pao’ because he knew that we would have enough food to eat for lunch at work the next day. 

Despite the downtown traffic, Kung-Kung would take the time to drive to Chinatown to buy his grandchildren their favourite egg tart desserts. He would also make sure to have a reserve of Kit Kat at home so that he could give the chocolate bars to his grandchildren whenever they came to visit. 

You could always feel the kindness in his actions and his words. When he asked you how you were getting back home, it was because he wanted to make sure you were safe and taken care of.

Kung-Kung was a pure gentleman through and through. You could see it in the way he always held my PoPo's hand when they would slowly walk together. It was almost as though they were frozen in time and they were still young lovers.

I was fortunate to grow up with my grandfather. He showed me how a gentleman should act. He also showed us that no matter your age, love does not fade.

We love you, Kung-Kung, and we miss you, always.

Hi Bernie, I remember with much fondness when your parents invited me to dinner one time when we were still single. There we sat, having a wonderful home cooked dinner and sharing good wine with them. I recall three languages being spoken at the dinner table. Your dad spoke to me in Cantonese, your mom was speaking to you in Hakka, and I was conversing with you in English. It was a multi-generational and multi-ethnic wonder. They always welcomed me into their home and we shared some good conversations. He will be sorely missed.  Sincerest condolences ... from our family to yours.   Charlie, Cindy, Victoria and Andrew.
