Carmen Dubé est décédée a l’âge de 62 ans, dans l'après-midi du 8 février 2022, à l'unité des soins intensifs de l'Institut thoracique de Montreal.

Dès leur première rencontre en 1974, Carmen fut une âme-sœur, une amie, une partenaire de vie indéfectible pendant 48 ans et une épouse aimante pendant 39 ans pour Lincoln. Carmen fut aussi une mère dévouée de son fils adore Davin.

Précède par sa mère adorée, Marie-Antoinette, sa nièce, Myriam, ses grands­ parents Mamie Carmen, Papi Aime, Mémé et Pépé Dube, Carmen laisse derrière elle sa meilleure amie et âme-sœur depuis 49 ans, Johanne Leblanc, son frère Philippe (Johanne), son neveu Alexandre (Amélie) et leurs enfants, Louis et Laurence, son père Lucien et sa sœur Nicole, sa tante Armande, sa cousine Valérie (Fred), sa tante Bernadette (Juan), de nombreux oncles, tantes et cousin(e)s en France, en Espagne et en Allemagne, sa belle-famille aimante, Noel, Karen et belle-mère Dolores, ainsi que de nombreux et précieux amis.

Carmen est morte de la même façon qu'elle a vécue... à ses propres conditions.

« Elle faisait ce qu'elle voulait, quand elle le voulait ». Une véritable guerrière et une championne, Carmen n'a jamais laisse le diabète type 1 (et la multitude de maladies attenantes qui lui causaient de la souffrance physique, mentale et émotionnelle) gagner.

Elle a plutôt décidé, de façon posée et réfléchie, de mettre un terme à ses souffrances, d'une manière INDOLORE ET PAISIBLE, tendrement soutenue par la présence aimante de Lincoln et Davin.

Lincoln et Davin souhaitent exprimer leur gratitude à tout le personnel soignant (en particulier a Glenda Socarras, Reem Haidar, Fatima Fakih, Isabelle Lemy Vuong et Ellie De Marco qui ont été extraordinairement gentilles et attentionnées envers Carmen), aux inhalothérapeutes, aux médecins: Gursahaney, Chisling, Vivian Loo, Amal Bessissow, Bruillet, Patrick Willemot ainsi qu'a tout le personnel de soutien de l'unité des soins intensifs de l'institut thoracique de Montréal, pour les soins professionnels et attentionnes prodigués a Carmen.

Notre plus sincère gratitude et appréciation à:

-Elaine Farwell, qui s'est déplacée toutes les semaines, et parfois plus souvent, pour travailler avec Carmen afin de rétablir ses habiletés d'élocution, de lecture, d'écriture et numérique.

-Nadine St-Denis, ergothérapeute au CLSC Samuel De Champlain, qui était la chargée de dossier de Carmen et notre ange gardien. Nadine pensait à la qualité de vie de Carmen et a tout fait pour maintenir Carmen a la maison le plus longtemps possible.

Pour soutenir et honorer la vie de Carmen et son combat de 54 ans contre la maladie, des dons généreux aux organismes énumérer sur la page suivante, seraient apprécies, au lieu de fleurs. Si possible donnez le don de vie, donnez du sang.

Carmen Dubé died at the age of 62, on the afternoon of February 8th, 2022, at the Montreal Chest Institute ICU.

From the moment they laid eyes on each other in 1974, Carmen was an ever present, inspiring soulmate, friend, and life partner for 48 years, and loving wife of 39 years to Lincoln and a devoted, adoring mother to Davin.

Preceded by her beloved mother Marie-Antoinette, her niece Myriam, her grandparents Mamie Carmen, Papi Aimé, Mémé and Pépé Dube, Carmen is survived by her dearest friend and soul-sister of 49 years Johanne Leblanc, her brother Philippe (Johanne), nephew Alexandre (Amélie) their children Louis and Laurence, father Lucien and sister Nicole, aunt Armande, cousin Valérie (Fred), aunt Bernadette (Juan) and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins in France, Spain and Germany, loving in-laws Noel, Karen and mother-in-law Dolores, and many dearly treasured friends.

Carmen died the same way she lived... on her own terms:

“She did what she wanted when she wanted”. A true fighter and champion, Carmen did not permit type 1 diabetes (and the multitude of disease processes that caused her physical, mental, and emotional suffering) to win.

Instead, Carmen thoughtfully and eloquently chose to end her suffering PAINLESSLY AND PEACEFULLY, tenderly touched and held in the loving arms of Lincoln and Davin.

Lincoln and Davin are grateful to all the Nursing staff (especially to Glenda Socarras, Reem Haidar, Fatima Fakih, Isabelle Lemy Vuong and Ellie De Marco who were extraordinarily caring and kind with Carmen), Respiratory technicians, Doctors: Gursahaney, Chisling, Vivian Loo, Amal Bessissow, Bruillet, Patrick Willemot and all the other staff of the Montreal Chest ICU who were involved in Carmen’s case, for providing Carmen with professional, compassionate care.

Our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to:

-Elaine Farwell who came once or twice a week to voluntarily work with Carmen to regain her speech and reading, writing and numeric skills.

-Nadine St. Denis, Occupational Therapist CLSC Samuel De Champlain who was Carmen's case manager and our guardian angel. Nadine thought of Carmen's quality of life and did everything possible to support Carmen to remain at home for as long as possible.
