Urania Mandopoulou

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Urania Viron born on August 20, 1938 in the quaint village of Moustheni in Northern Greece. In 1963, Urania and her beloved husband John Viron immigrated to Canada in search of greater life opportunities and through their courage and determination, they created a lasting legacy that now spans 3 generations in Canada. No matter where life took her, her heart always remained in the mountains of her cherished hometown of Moustheni.

Urania was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose love and care for her family knew no bounds. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years, John Viron; her son, Tasso; her daughter Mary; her daughter in law, Natalie; her treasured grandchildren, Chrysanthi (Jimmy); Elias (Sabrina) and Johnny; and her great-grandson Nico.

Her warmth, strength, generosity and quiet grace touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing has left an immeasurable void in our hearts and we will find comfort in the memories she gave us. She will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten. She was beautiful, compassionate, resilient and brought light into our world. We are profoundly grateful to her for the lessons we learned and laughter we shared. Even though she’s out of sight she wouldn’t want us to be unhappy and she will be with us each and every day. Time will never erase the quiet moments of connection we had. We will always love her, treasure the memories, and will remain in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the 5th floor, nephrology unit and internal medicine at the Charles Lemoyne hospital for their compassion, professionalism, and outstanding care during her illness.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at La Maison Darche Funeral Home, 7679 Taschereau Blvd., Brossard, QC J4Y 1A2, on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at the St-John Baptist Church located at 5220 Grande Allée, Longueuil, QC J3Y 1A1, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Urgel Bourgie Cemetery and Funeral Complex – St-Hubert located at 8145 Chemin de Chambly, Longueuil, QC J3Z 0H4, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
