1955-2014

It is with great sadness that his family announces his passing on Sunday, August 3, 2014.

After a long battle with his illness, our Cherished Hero suffers no more and heaven has gained a beautiful angel. He will continue to touch the lives of all who knew him and crossed his path, by remembering his courage, determination, humour, kindness and selflessness.

Son of the late Pearline (Toppin) and late Leslie Smith. Beloved and cherished husband of Louise Léonard. Devoted, loving and proud father to Laura-Lyne. Loving brother to Gail and Craig. Loving brother-in-law to Georges (Ellen), Pierre, Paul (Diane) and Lyne (Mario). Proud and devoted uncle to Charles, Marilyne, Sabrina, Gabrielle, Dylan, Ashley, Danny and Melissa. Devoted son-in-law to Lucille Léonard (late Fernand). Loving nephew to Carl (Lucille), Cecil, Alma, Gertrude (late Bill), Florence (late Jim), Sarah (Billy) and Eddie (late Sharon). Loving cousin to his many cousins from all over.

Thank you to Aziz for being there for Laura and family, to all of our amazing friends, Basketball Brothers, colleagues and neighbours, for their care and support throughout our journey.

Thank you to the Montreal General Hospital’s Dr. Chantal Séguin, Oncologist, for her dedication and determination in helping us have our Hero for 8 more precious years and our enormous gratitude for the exquisite care given by the staff (particularly, the nursing angels and Resident Dr. Samuel Mamane) of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, as well as the staff of the Intensive Care Unit.

Services will be held at : La Maison Darche on Saturday August 23rd, visitations from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A ceremony will take place at 4pm.
