

Cristina was a research assistant professor in the center for Gravitational Wave Astronomy. She was a class of 1999 Graduate of UT Brownsville. She conducted her Post Doctorate Research at the California Institute of Technology and the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory in Livingston L.A. She served as the Facility Advisor for the Society of Physics Students and Sigma PI Sigma Physics Honor Society. She led the Community Programs Astronomy in the Park & Monday Night Physics. She loved to empower her students to always reach for more than what they could imagine. She was a world traveler and adventurer at heart. She had a passion for people, new experiences, culture, martial arts, dance, music, and had numerous talents and hobbies.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rafael Razo.
Cristina is survived by her wife, Esmeralda Torres; parents, Charlie W. Torres and Maricela Torres; sisters, Nathasha (Juan) Torres Mendoza and Natalie Jean (Frank) Torres Kiser; several aunts and uncles; nephew, Riley; nieces, Hailee, Amelia, and Violet; and her grandmother, Amalia Razo.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 10:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. for Family, and 12:00p.m.-10:00p.m. for Friends, concluding all services.
