She was born June 24, 1933, in Synder, Oklahoma, to Russell and Alta Winger. She had three sisters who were also her best friends...Betty, Doris and Rita.
Emma met the love of her life, Ben Wilson, on a blind date. It was the beginning of a beautiful journey- one filled with surprises, deep love and lasting memories.
Emma and Ben shared nearly 69 wonderful years of marriage. Ben passed away just two days before their anniversary. Their life together was rich in love and devotion.
Together they raised five children: Steve, twin daughters Teresa and Denisa, and one year later set of twins sons Randy and Ricky.
Emma and Ben experienced deep sorrow in their lives with the loss of their son Randy at the age of 22, and later Ricky at the age of 58.
Emma loved her family more than anything. She found joy in simple things... sewing, reading a good book, working in the yard, sitting on the back porch with a cup of coffee and her best friend Benio by her side. She had a special nickname for Ben-"Ok Wilson "-a sweet and funny way of saying "I love you." What she cherished the most was spending time with her children and grandkids. Life with Emma was full of love, laughter, and a little bit of sass!
One of the most cherished memories was her 75th birthday celebration. Surrounded by family and friends, Emma was filled with joy as her grandchildren...Layla, MR, Mark, Stephanie, Robin, Leslie, Megan, and Randy surprised her by singing "My Girl in her honor."
She worked as a waitress for over 30 years and was known for her strong work ethic and kind spirit. In 1975, Emma and Ben made a BIG move to Ketchikan Alaska, where they embraced a new adventure before eventually settling in South Texas in the mid 1980's.
Emma will be remembered for her unwavering love, quiet strength, and deep faith. Her life was a blessing, and her memory a treasure. She was dearly loved and will be missed beyond measure.
