Gumercindo vivió una vida arraigada en las alegrías simples y en una profunda devoción. Le encantaba pescar, disfrutando de momentos tranquilos junto al agua donde encontraba consuelo y reflexión. La música siempre estuvo presente en su vida, llenando sus días con melodías que le traían alegría. También fue un gran aficionado al béisbol y al boxeo, rara vez perdiéndose la oportunidad de ver un buen juego o una buena pelea y de apoyar a sus equipos y peleadores favoritos.
Sobre todo, Gumercindo fue un hombre de fe. Su devoción a La Virgen de San Juan fue inquebrantable, guiándolo a través de los retos de la vida e inspirando a quienes lo rodeaban con su firme creencia y espíritu amable. Su fe moldeó la manera en que cuidaba a su familia, enfrentaba cada día y trataba a quienes encontraba en su camino, con compasión, humildad y gratitud.
Gumercindo será profundamente extrañado, pero su memoria vivirá en los corazones de todos los que lo amaron. Su vida fue una bendición, su recuerdo un tesoro, y su espíritu seguirá brillando a través de las historias, tradiciones y el amor que deja atrás.
Le sobreviven su esposa, Lidia Gomez, y sus hijos, Marco A. Gomez, Maria D. Davila, San Juanita Gomez y Cindy Sanchez. También le sobreviven sus nietos, Mark A. Gomez, Juan A. Vasquez, Emily Gomez, Daniel Davila, Diego Davila, Ileana N. Tejeda, Cassandra Sanchez, Alexa Sanchez, Dante Garcia y Andrea Sanchez.
Gumercindo fue precedido en muerte por sus padres, Maria Guadalupe Gomez y Alfonso Gomez, sus hermanos, Guadalupe Gomez y Agustin Gomez, su hermana, San Juana Rosalez, y su nieto, Javier Alejandro Solis.
La visitación se llevará a cabo en Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, ubicada en 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, el 30 de noviembre de 2025, de 1:00 pm a 9:00 pm. Un servicio de oración tendrá lugar en el mismo sitio, en la Capilla de los Ángeles, a las 7:00 pm.
La misa fúnebre está programada para el 1 de diciembre de 2025, a las 10:00 am, en San Felipe De Jesus Catholic Church, 2215 Rancho Viejo Ave, Brownsville, TX 78526. El sepelio continuará en Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, a las 11:00 am.

Gumercindo Gomez, born on March 2, 1948, in Mexico, passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 77, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Gumercindo left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and quiet strength that touched all who knew him.
Gumercindo lived a life rooted in simple joys and deep devotion. He loved fishing, spending peaceful moments by the water where he found comfort and reflection. Music was always present in his life, filling his days with melodies that brought him joy. He was also an avid fan of baseball and boxing, rarely missing the chance to watch a good game or match and cheer for his favorite fighters and teams.
Above all, Gumercindo was a man of faith. His devotion to La Virgen de San Juan was unwavering, guiding him through life’s challenges and inspiring those around him with his steadfast belief and gentle spirit. His faith shaped the way he cared for his family, approached every day, and treated those he encountered—with compassion, humility, and gratitude.
Gumercindo will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his spirit will continue to shine through the stories, traditions, and love he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife, Lidia Gomez, and his children, Marco A. Gomez, Maria D. Davila, San Juanita Gomez, and Cindy Sanchez. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mark A. Gomez, Juan A. Vasquez, Emily Gomez, Daniel Davila, Diego Davila, Ileana N. Tejeda, Cassandra Sanchez, Alexa Sanchez, Dante Garcia, and Andrea Sanchez.
Gumercindo was predeceased by his parents, Maria Guadalupe Gomez and Alfonso Gomez, his brothers, Guadalupe Gomez and Agustin Gomez, his sister, San Juana Rosalez, and his grandson, Javier Alejandro Solis.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, located at 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, on November 30, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A prayer service will take place at the same location in the Chapel of Angels at 7:00 pm.
The funeral mass is scheduled for December 1, 2025, at 10:00 am at San Felipe De Jesus Catholic Church, 2215 Rancho Viejo Ave, Brownsville, TX 78526. Burial will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, TX 78521, at 11:00 am.
