Hector was born in Bluffton, Ohio and raised in Brownsville, Texas. He attended Castaneda Elementary, Oliveira middle School, and was a proud Porter High School graduate class of 87. He played basketball and football in high school. His hobby was to play softball in morningside park. After graduation he worked for the navigation district at the port of Brownsville and retired after 27 years of service. He started as an unexperienced plumber, developed his skills and became a foreman. He credited his abilities to his mentor " El Prieto" as he recalled Mr. Rodriguez. Hector went to work for FedEx for couple of years before his cancer diagnosis. He received treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas for 3 years. Hector left behind many beautiful memories among his family and friends.
Hector is survived by his Wife, Alejandra Torres; his Daughter Alejandra Lopez (Juan Carlos Lopez); and his Son Martin Nieto (Arabella Nieto); his Brother Alberto Torres, his Brother Rodrigo Torres, his Brother Norman Torres and his Brother Raul Antonio Torres, his Grandchild Sofia Alejandra, his Grandchild Marbella Mae, his Grandchild Harmony, his Grandchild Serenity, and his Grandchild Carlos Andres.
Hector was preceded in death by his Father Jose Maria Torres, Sr. and his Mother Guadalupe Solis Torres; his Brother Jose Maria Torres, Jr. and his Brother Arturo Torres.
A Visitation for Hector will be held Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd. Brownsville, TX 78526. A Continued Visitation will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Christ The King Catholic Church, 2255 Southmost Rd. Brownsville, TX 78521. A Burial will occur Monday, October 16, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Alberto Torres, Rodrigo Torres, Norman Torres, Raul Antonio Torres, Martin Nieto, Juan Carlos Lopez, Matias Fragoso, Jose Salazar, and Juan Garza.
