Herminia S. Cortez, a beloved resident of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on September 16, 1930, Herminia lived a long and cherished life surrounded by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael Saldivar and Delfina Saldivar, her husband Medardo Cortez, her son Juan Vasquez, and her grandson Eli Guerrero.
Herminia is survived by her daughter, Lupita Vasquez Reece, and a large and loving family, including her grandchildren Patzy Barron Vasquez, Destiny Vasquez, Eli Vasquez, Azalea Vasquez, Joel (Malia) Barron, Anastasia Barron, Julian Barron, Josiah Barron, Jonah Barron, Izabella Barron, Joey Barron, Ileana Barron, Marisa (Sam) Lucio, Keith Contois, Caleb Contois, Ariel Guerrero, Alia Ruiz, Amelia Lucio, Gary (Daisy) Reece, Dwayne (Cherie) Mark, Asmara Marin, Yves Ledesma, Abby Ledesma, David Luna, Zaylee Reece, Skylar Reece, Kaylani Reece, Serenity Reece, Monique Reece, Fallyn Reece, Xander Reece, Juan M. (Eddica) Vasquez, Aiden Vasquez, Cameron Vasquez, Ethan Vasquez, Freddie Galvan, Tony Galvan, Javier Galvan, John Vasquez, James (Mickey) Vasquez, Jacob Vasquez, Priscilla (Anita) Vasquez, Maoulene Guerrero, Aubrey Guerrero, Jonathan Guerrero and Ezra Guerrero.
Additionally, she leaves behind various grandchildren, nephews, nieces, brothers, and a sister.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, located at 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526, on November 30, 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Chapel Service will follow at the same location from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, also located at 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Pallbearers honoring Herminia's memory include Joel Barron, Gary "Fuzzy" Reece, Danny Quiroz, Jose Luis Quiroz, Freddie Galvan, Javier Galvan, Adan Saldivar, and Tony Galvan. Honorary pallbearers are Armando, Evaristo, Jose "Pepe", and Amador Saldivar.
Herminia will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
