Born on February 13, 1969, Homero lived a life defined by quiet strength, noble character, and an unwavering love for his family. A master welder and boilermaker, he held supervisory roles with Exxon in Baytown, Texas, before returning to his hometown to continue his trade at AMFELS. Homero's greatest joy in life was being a father.
He is survived by his children: Homero Rafael Cepeda III, Kimberlly Chawntae Cepeda Chavez (Edgar Chavez Lopez), Joanathan Andrew Cepeda, Dante Daniel Cepeda, and Shawlana Gabriela Cepeda, and his beloved granddaughter, Emilia. He is also survived by his siblings Gabriel, Alejandro, Rafael, and Rodolfo, his father Homero Rafael Cepeda Barrera (Nelly Cepeda Garcia).
He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Gertrudis Cepeda Hinojosa.
A true steward of the land, Homero loved hunting, fur trapping, fishing, gardening, and cooking. He was a student of life, always eager to learn through documentaries, history, and wildlife programming. He had a deep respect for the world around him and a talent for surviving and thriving in the wild.
Those who knew Homero will remember a man who was courageous, compassionate, deeply kind, and full of quiet wisdom. He had a charming spirit, a strong work ethic, and an instinct to protect and nurture those around him.
His memory will live on in every lesson he taught, every story shared, and every act of love passed down through his children and family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service for Homero will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd, Brownsville, TX 78526.
