She’ll stay with you as long as the wind blows She’ll always be in your heart she didn’t leave you all alone she has eternal life Her spirit is always with you And if the sun shines in the sky And rain should fill the air And a rainbow lights up your day Know that she is there.
Jessica Lee Mercado, 27, passed away Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011
at Valley Regional Hospital in Brownsville, Texas.
She was born on October 7, 1984 in Houston, Texas and resided in Los Fresnos, Texas.
After graduating from Los Fresnos High School in 2003, our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and cousin, continued her life down the right path.
She worked at Security Service Federal Credit Union in Brownsville, Texas and was a very hard worker and was very admired by her customers and fellow co-workers. In February 2012, Jessica would’ve graduated college from the University of Phoenix and we were all so proud of her; however, none of us knew that God would call for another angel. Our beautiful angel was very smart and impacted many people’s lives.
After living on her own for 3 years, she decided to move back home in August and spent her last four months with the people that were by her side through thick and thin, her family. Not only did her family keep her happy and at peace those four months, but a special person came into her life as well and his name was Lee. He meant so much to her and we know that she loved him very much because he was her everyday smile. As for her family, she meant the world to them and they did everything in their power to be by her side from the beginning to the end of her eternal life. Jessica made her family very proud of the mature, responsible, intelligent, loving and caring woman she became. She was a role model to her sister and a blessing to her parents. She taught them the strengths to survive hard times and to never give up no matter what obstacle.
Jessica’s hobbies were reading, hearing music, playing video games, drawing, cooking, singing, watching movies and many other things; however, her biggest hobby was spending time with her family and friends. Her most precious gift to others was making people smile because she always smiled no matter what she was going through. People admired her smile, her strength, her silliness, and her deep compassion for others, it’s sad it all had to come to an end but God works in mysterious ways, and we all know he means well and has great plans for her.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother Leonor Reyes.
She is survived by her parents, Jesus and Norma Mercado and her sister, Erica Mercado. She is also survived by her grandfather, Pascual Reyes, and grandparents, Alberto and Graciela Mercado, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, little second cousins and friends. Her second cousins were everything to her because she loved them and saw them as her own children, especially Kayla and Baby Al Pinal.
The Pall Bearers for the funeral will be Lee Cordero, Michael Garza, Joe Ortiz, Ricky Rodriguez, Al Pinal, and Raul Franco.
Visitation will be held from 12pm to 9pm with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7pm on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10am at Immaculate Conception Cathedral on Monday 12, 2011 with a committal service to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
She had many friends we consider as family because they were always there for her. So we thank everyone for their kind words and special thoughts and prayers. It’s making us stronger knowing that we have so many people that are by our side through this hard time. We love you all and appreciate all that you all have done for her and for us. We all must remember now, we have a beautiful guardian angel watching over us.
