With profound love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Jesus “Chuy” Alaniz, Sr., 75, on February 12, 2025, in Brownsville, Texas.
Jesus was born on December 17, 1949 to Jorge Alaniz and Anita Cisneros in Brownsville, Texas. Jesus was a man of boundless generosity and a pillar of support to his loved ones. He enjoyed his early morning meetings with friends for coffee and biscuits, treating family and friends to a meal, and especially enjoyed playing pool. Whether through his words, his actions, or simply his presence he left an indelible mark on those around him. The love he shared will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Jesus was preceded in death by his father Jorge Alaniz; his mother Anita Cisneros; his brothers Samuel and Jorge Alaniz; his sister Juanita DeLeon; his former wife Alma Lockhart; his son-in-law, Albert Esquivel; and step-grandchildren Jacob and Jennifer Cadriel. While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing he has been reunited with those who went before him.
He is survived by his children Jesus (Adanela), Jessica (Albert Esquivel †), and Julissa (Francisco "Paco" Lopez), grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, and Jonah Alaniz. He also leaves behind his devoted spouse Cecilia Cadriel, his brothers Lupe and Noe Alaniz, step-grandchildren Ivette, Nacho, Tony and Joe Cadriel, Veronica Munoz, Marcy Fry and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were blessed to have known him.
Jesus lived a life defined by love, resilience, and generosity. He was known for his warm heart and his willingness to lend a helping hand. His legacy is not only in the family he raised, but in the kindness he showed to others and the unwavering support he gave to those he loved. His memory will continue to inspire us, reminding us to live with the same quiet dignity and deep compassion that he embodied every day.
Rest in peace, Chuy. Your love will forever be our guiding light.
