Juan Garza Vasquez

Mr. Juan Garza Vasquez, age 77, passed away peacefully in the company of his children on Thursday, August 18th in Hammond, Louisiana where he resided for the past 2 years. A native of Port Isabel and then long-time resident of Brownsville, Mr. Vasquez moved to Louisiana to be with his children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Castulo Vasquez Sr. and his mother Adelaida Vasquez. Also preceding him were his first wife, Maria Elena Vasquez and his second wife, Maricella Vasquez.

Surviving Mr. Vasquez are his six sons, Jesus (Julie), Rogerio (Holly), Carlos (Julie), Jose, Miguel (Claudia), and Marco (Evanelle) Vasquez and one daughter, Angela (Mickey) Bruce. Six brothers, Castulo, Carlos, Roberto, Rene, Lionel, and Noe Vasquez and four sisters, Natalia Martin, Mavi Torres, Minerva Mora, and Norma Vasquez. Eleven grandchildren, Jesus Jr., Matthew, Darlene, Jason, Amanda, Tiffany, Elizabeth, Daniela, Alison, Mercedes, and Marissa as well as four great-grand children, Matthew Jr., Autumn, Tyler, and Donnie.

Visitation for Mr. Vasquez will be held at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista on Monday, August 22, 2011 from 10 am till 9 pm with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 pm. A Chapel Service will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10 am with interment to follow at Buena Vista Cemetery.
