Leonel Garza Peña ~

He is survived by his beloved wife, Josefina Margarita Zavaleta de Garza; his children Pedro Alberto, Belinda, Conchita (Eric Rodenbaugh), Leonel Jr. (Vanessa Argote de Garza) and Josefina Margarita; his grandchildren, Ian Peter Rodenbaugh Garza, Marijose and Anafernanda Garza-Argote; sister, Aminda Garza de Cuellar (Rene Cuellar).

Leonel loved spending time with his family and tending to his beloved wife. Leonel will be most remembered as a hard working and loving man for his beautiful smile and his kindness. He cared dearly for his entire family. Leonel will be greatly missed.

Leonel graduated from Saint Joseph Academy in Brownsville, Texas in 1946, where he excelled as a student and as an athlete playing football and basketball, then he attended the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, where he received a Degree in Business Administration in 1951. After which time he married Josefina Margarita Zavaleta García-Gómez who has been his beloved wife for over 63 years and formed a family of 5 children. Pedro Alberto, Belinda, Conchita, Leonel Jr. and Josefina Margarita.

After working as a teacher in Brownsville, Texas the family moved to Mexico City where he joined his father, Ingeniero Pedro Garza Uribe in business and raised his family until retiring and returning to Brownsville, Texas with his family.

Celebration of a life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 10am – 1pm with a rosary at 1pm will be given by Father Francisco Acosta at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.

Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church at 1914 Barnard Road (and Los Ebanos Blvd.) at 5pm will be given by MSGR. Heberto M. Diaz Jr.
