Manuel Contreras

Manuel (Meme) Contreras of Brownsville, Texas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his immediate family on Sunday November 20, 2022. Manuel was born in Cruillas, Tamaulipas on August 13, 1941, to Jose Maria Contreras Contreras (†) and Juanita Leal Reyes (†).

Manuel married his loving wife Alejandra Garza de Contreras (†) on April 13, 1969. Their union lasted 51 years and four children were born from that union. Manuel was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved fishing, spending time with his family, playing lotería on Friday nights, and playing the slot machines on Sundays.

Manuel was preceded in death by his loving wife Maria Alejandra Garza de Contreras (†), his father Jose Maria Contreras Contreras (†) and mother Juanita Leal Reyes (†); brothers, Jose Contreras Silva (†), Israel Contreras Silva (†), Gilberto Contreras Silva (†), Edmundo Contreras Leal (†), and Ruben Contreras Leal (†); sisters, Olivia Contreras Silva (†), and Alicia Contreras Silva (†).

Manuel is survived by his daughter Mirna Contreras Romero (Miguel Romero), daughter Janie (Juanys) Contreras, daughter Alma Alejandra Contreras Adame (Juan Adame), and son José Manuel Contreras (Brenda Contreras); sister María del Refugio Contreras Leal de Flores and brother Romeo Contreras Leal. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Victor hugo Contreras, Abigail Elizabeth Contreras, Miguel Ángel Romero, and Rene Alejandro Romero.

A visitation for Manuel will be held on Friday November 25, 2022, from 12:00PM to 10:00PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521.

A chapel service will occur on Saturday November 26, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista, 125 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78521.
