

Margarita Klahn Rodríguez, (b. in Brownsville in 1918), daughter of Henry James Klahn (b. 1880) and Francisca Garza Klahn (b. 1892,) was called by the Lord on March 1, 2014 in Humble, Texas.
She is survived by her son Dr. José Angel Rodríguez (Dr. Elvia); granddaughter, Dr. Marisela Annette Rodríguez; grandson, Jaime Rodríguez; sister, Sara Hidalgo (Boris); brother, José Enrique Klahn (Concepcion) and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, José Angel Hinojosa Rodríguez; her infant daughter, Ninfa Laura; her sisters, Anna Klahn Zarate (Reynaldo); Dolores Klahn Leandro (Alfonso); and her brother Sabas Klahn (Concepcion, who lives in Dallas).
Margarita worked 25 years at “The Vogue” in downtown Brownsville. After retirement, she moved with her son and family to Nacogdoches, where she lived for 33 years. They later moved to Humble, TX.
Her grandfather, Henry James Klahn who served as County Sheriff, founded the Brownsville Police Force and became the first Brownsville Chief of Police. Her father served as Democratic Party Chair for many years during the 1940’s.
Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista at 125 McDavitt Blvd.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday with the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Saturday, 3/8/14, followed by interment at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Pallbearers: Al Beltran, Fred Cantu, Boris A. Hidalgo, Rick Hidalgo, Sheriff Omar Lucio, and Joe Ray Rivera.
