She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Ignacio Murillo; parents Angel Hurtado and Soledad Pinedo Hurtado; brother, Angel Hurdado Jr,.

Marta Catalina Murillo is survived by her sons, Juan Ignacio (Erika) Murillo Jr., Cesar Israel (Lizeth) Murillo; daughter, Liza Marie Murillo; grandchildren, Juan Ignacio Murillo III, Cassandra Murillo, Isaiah Murillo, Kayla Murillo, and Nicole Murillo; sisters, Yolanda (Jose Luis) Sanchez, Lupita Hurtado, Irma (Gabriel) Barcelo, Sally (Ken) Truhitte, Norma (Edward) Barron, and Laura (Mario) Salinas; brother, Raul Hurtado.

Marta worked as an LVN at Brownsville Medical Center for over 30 years and as a Home Health nurse for Christian Quality and Trinity Home Health for over 6 years.

Marta, our beloved mother and sister will be deeply missed. Her great sense of humor and simple presence will live on forever.

She was the best grandmother any grandson could have. She was a caring and loving person to her children and grandchildren.

My mother has made me the person I am today and has inspired me to be an independent individual. I’ll miss you, I love you, and I’m glad I spent one last Mother’s Day with you.

Mom I wish we could have had some more time together. I will miss you dearly but I know you’re in a better place. I will see you soon.

Our mother was a strong willed person who was always there for her family. She was a faithful and loyal wife to her husband, Juan I. Murillo, and the cornerstone for her children. She made everything better and always gave us assurance that everything would be okay. She told us to be grateful for every day we had and to learn to forgive. Mom, I want to thank you for everything you did for me in making me a better person.

Visitation for immediate family only will be held on, Sunday, May 26, 2013, from 1pm–3pm and family only 3pm- 9pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
