Sergeant Reynaldo Vega, age 68, passed away on June 17, 2025. A lifelong resident of Brownsville, Texas, with the exception of a few years spent in Austin, TX.
Reynaldo was a graduate of Porter High School. His earlier education included J.T. Canales Elementary School and Faulk Jr. High, both in Brownsville, Texas. He also completed studies in Building Trades through The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. An avid sportsman, Reynaldo loved playing football and was the quarterback for Porter High School. He also enjoyed playing basketball and cooking for his family. He was a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved watching the game.
Reynaldo proudly served his country in the Texas Army National Guard from 1977 to 1994. His dedicated service was recognized with several honors, including: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal,Adjutant General's Individual Award (2nd Award), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Texas Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm Ribbon.
He is survived by his siblings, Jaime I. Vega, Miguel Vega(Debbie), Enrique Vega, Elizabeth Ramos (Jesse), and Mirta M. Vega; his loving wife of 15 years, Elisa Mozqueda; his two daughters from a previous marriage, Yvonne Vega (Robert) and Louisa Castillo (Pete); and his beloved grandchildren, Layla, Anthony, and Celeste Cedillo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio Vega and Beatriz E. Vega. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
