With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ricardo, a beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend, whose warmth, generosity, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him.
Ricardo was a man who lived with purpose and kindness. For 35 wonderful years, he shared a deep and devoted love with his wife, his partner in life and in countless adventures. Together, they created a life full of memories, road trips, laughter, and unconditional love.
A dedicated family man, Ricardo was a guiding light to his children, a loyal and loving brother, and a proud son. Ricardo was immensely proud of his family. He held the standard for his children and guided them through life, preparing them all for the roles they would one day have. He was the one everyone could count on. Always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or simply listen. His ability to help others, no matter the circumstance, was a reflection of his boundless compassion and generous heart.
Ricardo believed in the importance of being presentable and taking pride in how one carried themselves. He always made sure his family looked put together, even if it was just a quick trip to the grocery store. It wasn’t about vanity, it was about dignity, self-respect, and showing the world that you value yourself and your loved ones. That small but meaningful attention to detail was just one of the many ways he quietly expressed his love.
Ricardo had a curious mind and a love for learning. He was an avid reader, constantly seeking knowledge and insight from every source he could find. Whether it was books, articles, documentaries, or conversations, he was always eager to explore new ideas and understand the world around him.
He also found great joy in the outdoors. Whether casting a line while fishing, sitting quietly in the woods hunting, or cheering on a baseball game. Nature and tradition were grounding forces in his life, giving him peace and perspective.
Ricardo's spirit was as strong as it was gentle. He lived a life rich with purpose, connection, and care. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ocañas, his sons, Rolando Ocañas, Gerardo Ocañas and Eduardo Ocañas and his daughter, Karina Ocañas. His brother Ruben Ocañas and sister Rebecca Garcia.
Ricardo was preceded in death by his father, Roberto Ocañas, and his mother, Consuelo Ocañas.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Ricardo’s honor. These gifts will help continue his lifelong mission of blessing others , especially those in need — just as he always did, without hesitation and regardless of the situation.
Rest in peace, Ricardo. You were one of a kind.
