Faye was born in Bald Prairie on September 23, 1937 to Louis “Pap” & Nannie (McCrary) Davis in Robertson, County. She was one of seven children. Faye was a cheerleader at Franklin High School, and graduated in 1955. She met her sweetheart E.K. “Bud” Pruitt at the local roller skating rink. We have heard so many stories about how he would attempt to “wow” her with his skate moves. They married in 1955 and had two children, Joe and Terry. Her and Bud had many fun times together. They loved to travel and spent a lot of time at Lake Belton.
Faye worked for 29 years in customer service at Montgomery Wards and also oversaw all of their fashion shows. After retiring from MW, she began another career at Texas A&M University. From there retired for the second and final time in 1993. She sure loved those Aggies!
Mother/Memaw Faye was a very loving and generous lady, who without a doubt had a faith that could not be rocked. She was the BEST cook! Although she always downplayed it, and complained that she was the worst. Her turkey and dressing was, and still is the family favorite. For the past five years we have been practicing the recipe over and over, in hopes to one day achieve her level of perfection. Her banana pudding came in as a close second. She would always make a special side batch without bananas for the ones that didn’t like bananas.
She always modeled generosity and serving others. Whether it be helping someone from church, dropping off a meal or visiting nursing home residents, she was always there and ready when any need arose. When she wasn’t volunteering, she was probably cleaning, shopping or garage sale hopping!
She loved her family fiercely, and was so proud. 100% smitten over all of her great grand “kiddies”, and loved teaching them The Books of The Bible, singing Sunday school songs and scratching their backs.
We all will miss her terribly, but one thing is for certain, she had an unshakeable faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. We know EXACTLY where she is now, and we could not smile bigger than when we envision her free of pain and reunited with her sweetheart Bud and the rest of her loved ones.
On January 4, the family will be having a small graveside service at 10 a.m., at the Nesbitt Cemetery in Robertson County. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have to limit attendance to only family and close friends.
