Benny was born January 30, 1948 in Milwaukee, WI to Bernhard J. Benn and Esther J. (Albrecht) Benn. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School, West Allis, WI May, 1966, School of Vocational & Adult Education with certification in Automotive Service on June 9, 1967. Benny was a talented guitar player and singer and played in several bands while in high school and for many years after. He then joined the U. S. Army, stationed at Camp Ames, South Korea, assigned to the 833rd Ordinance Company Wheel and Track Unit, 30th Ordinance Company Hercules Nike Platoon. He attained the rank of Specialist E4 and earned the Sharpshooter M14 Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Upon his honorable discharge he moved to Houston where he managed the Texas Radio and later Southwest Auto Sounds stores for many years. When SW Auto Sounds dissolved he opened B&B Auto Sounds, worked for CATS and AG Solar Guard, retiring in 2012 after 40 years as an Aftermarket Electronics Installation Tech. On February 23, 1995 he met his beloved Beverly and on November 22, 1997 they were married. In 1999 they sold the Brenham home, moved to Bryan and designed and built a new home. Benny did much of the interior work himself as well as building many of the built-ins. He also built his woodworking shop, a potting shed, storage shed, greenhouse and many other structures on their property. He also designed and built many guitars and enjoyed playing each of them every day. Benny was a man who loved his family immensely and enjoyed helping them any time they called, many times dropping what he was doing to help them.
Upon retirement Benny turned his life-long hobby of woodworking into a successful business in which he designed and built beautiful furniture pieces for many clients and he and Beverly. Many gifts to his wife were pieces he designed and built. He was a truly gifted woodworker who took immense pride in his work. Benny was extremely happy when in his woodworking shop constructing a client's project or building something for he and his wife. If he wasn't working on a project for a client he was designing things to build. He also loved riding his motorcycles, attending festivals, Wurstfest being his favorite, camping, tubing on the Guadalupe, going to Schlitterbahn, Renaissance Festival, attending concerts, taking long drives or just hanging out at home with his beloved wife Beverly. They both enjoyed hanging out with the other.
His parents, his brother Dennis Benn, stepson James Tydlacka and granddaughter, Emily Tydlacka preceded him in death.
Benny leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife of almost 24 years Beverly, his brother Daryl Benn, sister Amy Forciea (Pat), his children and their spouses, Justin Benn (Madison), Benji Benn (Kimberly), Trista Benn (Daren Dregney), Joshua Benn (Melissa), Jesse Benn, Jordan Benn (Kay Kimmell), Stacey Nichols, Mark Tydlacka (Angela), Andrew Tydlacka (Rachel), thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Benny will be deeply missed for the rest of our lives. His death leaves a huge hole in each of our hearts, one that will never heal. Benny and his wife Beverly had a very special nearly 27 year relationship that only a few people ever get to experience, a match truly made in heaven. Rest in Peace Benny.
