A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 20 at 10 a.m., with burial following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Sonny was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Church where, on May 5, 1956, he married Gabrielle Casault. They were blessed with six children. He attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1954. His main hobby was playing drums in country western bands. He played with several groups before starting his own Country Road Band. He also played in a rock & roll band for a few years. He retired his drums after 50 years of playing. He also loved fishing, gardening, and traveling. Sonny and Gabby were avid RV’ers, traveling throughout most of North America, touring the 50 states, as well as Mexico and Canada.
Sonny spent his retirement years volunteering at his church where he was a member of the Ushers Club for many years. He was an active member of the St. Joseph RHC Auxilary for 16 years and a former case worker for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also active at St. Joseph School during the time his children attended, holding the office of President of the PTA, then called the Mother’s Club.
