

Helen Marie Vinson Boriskie, formerly of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to8 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A Rosary is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial is set for 1 p.m. Friday, May 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, with Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Helen was born October 6, 1915 to Andrew and Mamie Knight Vinson in Palestine, Texas. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy,and Nixon Business College in Palestine. At the young age of 18, Helen moved to Bryan and immediately found employment withthe U.S.D.A. in College Station. In 1941, Helen married the love of her life, Frank Joseph Boriskie, at St. Joseph Catholic Churchin Bryan. Helen continued her career while she and Frank raised three beautiful daughters, retiring from the U.S.D.A. in 1977. She immediately decided to pursue a new career, and for 14 years she was a successful Real Estate Agent and Broker in the Bryan/College Station area.
Helen was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Alter Society. She was also a longtime member of the Austin Diocese Council of Catholic Women and served as Council President. She was a member of the Auxiliary at St. Joseph Regional Health Center, a member of the K.J.Z.T., and a member of several Bridge Clubs in our community. She moved to Dallas to be close to her daughters Pat and Linda in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Boriskie, long time Brazos County Clerk, on November 3, 2000.
Helen is survived by three daughters, Diane Murphy of Houston, Pat Cage and husband Wayne of Dallas, and Linda Boriskie of Dallas; one sister, Shirley Bailey of Houston; and four grandchildren, Courtney Murphy and Rick Pessara both of Houston, John Cage and his wife Monika of Dallas, and Christopher Seman of Austin. She will be missed by her beloved family and Pomeranian Foxey.
