
Heloise “Sis” Toups Norman formerly of League City, Texas passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the age of 79. She was born September 3, 1944 to Jean Charles and Robbie Toups in New Orleans, Louisiana. After her parents died in 1957, Sis moved to Baton Rouge to live with her half-brother and family.
She graduated from Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge class of 1962. She then moved back to New Orleans to work. She meet the love of her life on a blind date, Ross William Norman Jr. They married on January 4, 1964 at the Carrollton Avenue Methodist Church, New Orleans, Louisiana.
In May of 1964 Ross and Sis left New Orleans to move to Texas. Their first stop was in Refugio, Texas where Ross had grown up. It was a huge difference compared to New Orleans where Sis had grown up. They lived in Austin, Houston and finally in League City. Sis became involved in many groups, throughout her many years in League City. League City United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts of America, James H. Ross Elementary PTA multiply sports teams and FFA and every other group that their three children were involved in. Sis was also involved in the Lioness Club, League City Garden Club and many other activities.
Once their children were all in school she started working for Clear Creek I.S.D. She was a special needs aid at Webster Elementary and later became the school secretary at Ross Elementary. She made many great friends at the school who she remained friends with later in life. Sis was also able to travel with her husband on his various conventions all over the world. They went to China, Hong Kong, Canada (multiply times) and many places in the USA. Her favorite place was going to Rockport where she and Ross had a place.
Sis is survived by her two children, Michele (Alan) Munger and Ross (Molly) Norman III. Her five grandsons, Ryan (Chelsea) Munger, Reid (Kristalyn) Munger, William Mathis, Ross (Cort) Norman IV, Remington Norman and her great-granddaughter Blake Munger. She is also survived by Nancy Norman, Phil Norman and Mike Norman her brother and sisters-in-law; and Auggie Mathis her son-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross of 27 years, her daughter, Melissa Mathis; her mother and father, and her in-laws Ross and Dorothy Norman.
Her memorial will be Saturday, October 21 at 10:00 am at the League City United Methodist Church 1601 W. League City Pkwy, League City Texas.
