Jack Cranford, 81, of Bryan, Texas was reunited with his beloved wife, Susie, in eternal rest on February 10, 2025. Jack was born in December 1943 and enjoyed a carefree childhood on the farm growing up in Oklahoma surrounded by Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Jack was strongly influenced by his grandmother from whom he inherited his love for knowledge and cultivated his curiosity about everything. Jack had a love for animals, Susie fondly referred to him as Dr. Doolittle, and was most at home on the farm.
Jack joined the Navy before graduating high school, he served as a physician assistant with a wide-array of experiences. Jack married the love of his life February 8, 1964. Together they travelled all over the United States engaging fully in each community they called home for however long they were stationed.
As part of the aerospace medical team he worked with the original 7 astronauts and loved to tell the story of the development of adult diapers. He served at the White House under several presidents, participated as a medic in search and rescue operations, conducted hospital audits, and was well respected among his peers rising to the rank of Master Chief before retiring. Following his retirement, he and his wife spent time on the farm before her career brought them to Bryan, Texas. While in Bryan, Jack continued to pursue his passion for learning and nature by becoming a Master Gardener and volunteering at the Extension Office, while continuing to support animal health working at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (ret. 2004). He was deeply involved with his church family at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. He touched many lives through his years on this earth, blessing those that knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Jack leaves behind dear cousins, Frankie, Anne, and Red, as well as several adopted family members, and was preceded in death by his beloved wife Susie, their son John, his grandmother Oni, and several Aunts and Uncles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Friday, February 21, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow with military honors at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 – 6:00 pm with a 6:00 pm rosary Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
