He was born on September 22nd, 1962 in Kermit, TX. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Rosie Masiel, his son Chris and wife Andie and their son and daughter, Dominic and Isabella of Dickinson, TX, his daughter Cassandra and her partner, Devang Joshi of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his mom, Maria Masiel and his brother Pete Masiel.
Javier was a life-long Oilman. He was an avid golfer and could be found playing a round or two at the Briarcrest Country Club with his buddies. He was a die-hard Texas Longhorn fan (a trait he passed on to both of his children.) He was seldom found wearing anything but his burnt orange or camo (even though he never hunted a day in his life.) Most notably however, was his skill behind the barbecue pit and the genuine love he had for feeding any and everyone.
He was made of grit, hard work and tough love but the most important role in his life and where his enormous heart lied was in providing and protecting his family. He loved them without measure, there was no hurdle too big that he wouldn’t jump for them. Being a father to his son and daughter brought him immense joy. He was their coach and greatest supporter in any endeavor they took on and would never settle for mediocrity. He absolutely shined as a grandfather. There was never a missed opportunity to either spoil his granddaughter, Isabella rotten or to drive across the state to cheer from the sidelines for his grandson, Dominic. He worked tirelessly to ensure his children, grandchildren and most of all his wife never went without.
There will never be a day that goes by that he won’t be missed by his family, but every single life-lesson he taught them will be carried forever.
