

Jewel was born in Goshen, Alabama, the daughter of Beulah and Benjamin Folmar. She moved with her family to Edinburg, Texas at the age of seven. Jewel graduated from Pan American College in Edinburg, and following her schooling she worked as a secretary in San Antonio, where she met her husband of 64 years, Philip Carl Limbacher. Together they raised their four children and lived and traveled in the United States and Europe while Phil served his country in the Air Force. They settled in Bryan, Texas in 1969, when Phil joined the faculty of Texas A&M University. Following Phil’s death in 2009, she moved to Westminster in Austin, Texas.
Jewel was known for her intelligence and for her love and commitment to her family. She worked as the private secretary to Dr. Roger Adams, a world-renowned organic chemist and the Department Head of Chemistry at the University of Illinois. In her later years, she and Phil enjoyed hiking in the epic scenery of the American West, and taking long car trips to visit her loved ones.
She was predeceased by her parents, her oldest son, Philip Carl Limbacher, III, her husband, and two brothers and a sister. She is survived by Mary Fischer Jacobs of Chicago, Laurie Ellen Limbacher of Austin, and Robert Andrew Limbacher of Philadelphia. She is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A reception will be held at Westminster, 4100 Jackson Avenue in Austin, on Saturday, September 27 at 10:30 a.m.. A memorial service will be held at 10a.m. on Saturday, October 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Bryan, where Jewel and Phil were members for over 40 years.
