

Funeral service are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 9 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Rev. Duane Dewald officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Jimmy was born January 28, 1942 in Iuka, MS. the son of Lee and Maggie (Sanders) Welch. Jimmy was a printer by trade. He began his career working for the Tishomingo County Vidette a weekly newspaper in his hometown of Iuka. He moved Texas in 1961 when he accepted employment as a linotype operator in Bryan. After his arrival in Bryan, he met Judy Evans and
they were married at Bethel Lutheran Church on February 13, 1965. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of a son, Leonard Wayne. Later he became partners in H&K Printing Company. Jimmy worked for Texas A&M University Printing Center where he retired as Graphic Arts Center Assistant Manager in 1999. Through his 50 year career in the trade, Jimmy witnessed and was a part of the ever changing technology of printing. Leaving retirement for his love of the trade, he worked for many years at Insite Publishing until his health failed.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, Clinton and Leroy Welch; brother-in-law, Leonard Evans; and sisters-in-law, LaNell Evans, Helas Welch and Reba Welch.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Welch; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Melissa Welch; grandchildren, Kristen Moehlman and Bailey Welch; sister Laverne and brother- in-law, Frank Walker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Ruth Welch, Donald Welch, Bobby and Janis Welch; brothers-in-law, Johnnie Evans and Bobby Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was a loving husband and a proud father and grandfather.
The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people at Hospice Brazos Valley and Scott & White Doctors Hackethorn and Yea for making Jimmy’s last few months as comfortable as possible.
