Johnnie is a graduate of E. A. Kemp High School. After graduating from high school, she went on to
Nursing School where she earned her degree as an L. V. N. She worked at Daniel Jarvis Home Health for
years, and even though she retired from Daniel Jarvis, Johnnie was not retired for long... she started working as a private duty nurse for families. This opportunity enabled her to experience many adventures, such as traveling with a family to the country of Turkey! Johnnie retired from private duty nursing, and also came out of this retirement to work at MHMR, retired again, and went back again! One could say that her love for nursing overrides the meaning of the word “retirement”.
She loved fishing and any chance she had to be at a pond, river, or lake…she took it! Her love of
fishing took Johnnie all the way to Alaska, where she had the experience of ice fishing, one of the top things on her bucket list. Johnnie never met a stranger and was always willing to help family, friends, and others in need She made connections wherever she went.
The sun set on Johnnie on October 7, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Horace and
Alice Patterson and her two sisters, Faye and Brenda. She leaves behind two nieces, Jamie and Natalyn; one nephew, James III; one grand-nephew, Philip; and one nephew-in-law, Quinton; and a host of many family and friends.
Johnnie was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
