

Leon Y. Acosta, Sr., 86, of Bryan passed away September 27, 2015 in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Friday, October 2, 2015 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan. Interment will follow in the Bryan City Cemetery.
Mr. Acosta retired from farming and ranching after 63 years. He enjoyed taking care of his cows and driving his grandkids to the Brazos Bottom and passing on to them how to work cattle, mend fences and sharing childhood memories and stories. He also enjoyed riding around town visiting with his sisters and friends.
Leon will be greatly missed and remembered as a great, kind and giving man and the patriarch of the family.
Mr. Acosta was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hernandez Acosta in October of 2014; daughters, Baby Girl Acosta and Patsy Field; parents, Candido “Joe” and Ramona Yeppes Acosta; sisters, Lydia Becerra and Janie Tobar; brothers, Candido Acosta, Gilie Acosta and Roy Acosta.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Leon Jr. and Maggie Acosta; sisters, Carolina & her husband Fidel Castillo, Mary & her husband Manuel Alaman, and Rosie Alvarez; grandchildren, Monica & her husband Joseph Bernal, Robert & his wife Charissa Field, Aaron Acosta, and Andrew Acosta; great grandchildren, Lauren Bernal, Leah Bernal, Jeremiah Bernal, Nathaniel Field, Ryder Field and Gabriel Field.
The family would like to thank family and friends for their help.
