Maria S. Licon, 77, of Bryan, Tx passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. She was born on September 26, 1947 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Pascual and Sixta Palacios. Maria was the oldest of 12 children. She raised her brothers and sisters so her parents could make a living in Juarez.
Maria and Victor met in 1970 in El Paso, Tx. They dated until married in 1972. Maria worked at Levis Jeans as a seamstress and Victor worked for the military. In 1983, Maria and family moved to Bryan Tx. for Victor's job transfer and worked for U.S. Army Reserve and for the Dept. of the Army.
Maria started at Bryan Independent School district in 1985 and was there for 25+ years. Maria participated in many friends events and was with Santa Teresa Church were she was a devoted Catholic. Maria met many people throughout her life. Maria was loving, caring and a giving person. Once retired, Maria loved gardening and devoted her life to her grandchildren and was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
Maria is predeceased by her husband Victor of 25 years before his passing in 1997, her parents Pascual and Sixta Palacios, mother in law Amelia Licon and brothers in law, Danny, Felipe Licon and Manny Melendez.
Maria's surviving family member; Stepson Victor I (Annie) Licon of Corpus Christi, Victor II (Kara) Licon of Bryan, Veronica (Thuren) Miller of Bryan, Jaime (Nadya) of Corpus Christi; grandchildren Justin Licon, Thuren & Valerie Miller, Jonah & Oliviana Licon and Victoria, Natalia and Vincent Licon.
Surviving siblings; Esperanza (Eduardo) Savedra, Antonia (Victor) Duarte, Manuel (Rosa) Palacios, Alfredo (Josefina) Palacios, Genoveva (Enrique) Melendez, Javier (Myrna) Palacios, Jose Luis (Margarita) Palacios, Enrique (Irene) Palacios, Olga Lilia (Gabriel) Gaucin, Martha Cecilia (Salvador) Filerio, Juan Jose (Yuli) Palacios. Additional survivors; sister in law Rosemary Melendez, Mike (Norma) Licon, Carlos (Lucia) Licon and Jesus (Avelia) Licon. Numerous of nieces, nephews and friends near and far.

Visitation for Maria will be held Friday, February 28 from 6 - 8:00 PM with a 7:30 PM Rosary at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 1 at 4:00 PM at Santa Teresa Catholic Church.
