Matt was born October 20, 1946 in Galveston, Texas to Lucille Letinich and Matthew R. Seymour. He graduated from Ball High School in 1965 and attended Alvin Junior College. In March 1967 he joined the United States Navy and served in Vietnam before being discharged on October 1968. After the service, Matt returned to Houston and entered the banking business. In 1978 he moved to Bryan and joined Bryan Building and Loan and has spent most of his life in the banking business. He also served as the Marketing Director and Director of Sales for Lilly Dairies before returning to banking. He joined Capital Farm Credit as the Marketing Director and retired after 15 years of service in 2014.
Matt was never without a smile. He loved to fish, he loved his wife Allison, he loved his kids, but most of all, he loved and adored his grandchildren. Matt was always grateful for having so many people that he could call his friends. He also loved his life and was so thankful for everything that God had provided. Matt’s last request was for everyone to continue to live life to the fullest, toast him every once in a while, and to let all of his fishing buddies know that he will be waiting for you and will have a great place to fish staked out when you get there.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Matthew. He is survived by his wife Allison Woodyard Seymour of Kurten; two son, Matthew Seymour and his wife Tina of Spring, and Jason Seymour of Kurten; one daughter, Brooke Seymour and her fiancé Jody Goodrum of Kurten; one brother, Patrick Seymour and his wife Marilyn of Caldwell; and nine grandchildren, Matthew W. Seymour, Cole G. Seymour, Carson J. Seymour, Mason R. Seymour, Paityn N. Seymour, Ashtyn G. Seymour, Trace Ford, Jake Goodrum, and Jon Goodrum.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675, in honor and in memory of Matt.
