Nicolasa Castillo Mendez

Nicolasa Castillo Mendez, 66, of Bryan, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, October 21, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 20 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a 7 p.m. rosary. Nicolasa was born September 10, 1944 in Mumford to Juan and Leandrea Castillo. She was a lifetime member of Guadalupana and Santa Teresa Catholic Church where she was married. She was also a longtime member of LULAC council 622. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Nicolasa will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years, Lorenzo Mendez, Sr.; and her brother, Casey Castillo. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Lorenzo and Mary Mendez of San Diego, Calif., Richard and Mary Mendez, Jesse and Sara Mendez, all of Bryan, Larry and Sarah Mendez, Sr., of College Station; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalinda and Reynaldo Villalpando, Rosemary and Antonio Rivera, and Monica and Jessie Duran all of Bryan; sisters and brother in law, Simona and Raymond Mendez of Bryan, Mary and Manuel Bence of Ruskin, Fla., and Tony and Isabel Sanchez of Brookville, Fla; 19 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
