Robert Clifton

Robert Grant Clifton was born on September 19, 1983 in Texas City, Texas to Guy and Karen Clifton, the fourth of five children. Grant joined his grandparents in heaven on Sunday, July 31, 2016, finally resting after a long battle with addiction.

Grant was a loyal, kind and loving presence in his family and community. He had a generous and inclusive spirit, always coming to the aid of the underdog, the disenfranchised and anyone in need. He had a deep spiritual life and commitment to his Catholic faith, a foundation of his passion for social justice and support of the needy.

Grant’s humor and animated storytelling made him a joyful presence in any room. He never met a stranger and loved entertaining, cooking, music and dancing. His charisma and charm combined with his innate sensitivity and kindness made him a memorable person to anyone he encountered.

Grant loved the outdoors and had a gift with plants and animals – which was evidenced in the collection of exotic birds, dogs and chickens that would arrive at his parents home while growing up. He had incredible intuition and tenderness in his ability to heal and nurture all things living – which also drew people around him to share their faith and deepest vulnerabilities with him.

Grant will be missed by his parents, Guy and Karen, his siblings, Marjorie Clifton, Travis Clifton and his wife Elizabeth, Kathryn Clifton and her husband, Dafne Ramirez, and Andrew Clifton and his wife Katherine; and his seven nieces and nephews Henry, George, Charlie, Elisa, Mariela, Lucia and Grace, who is also his goddaughter. He was the first phone call whenever you needed a cooking tip or assistance executing a practical joke on someone in the family. He was incredibly proud and loyal to his family as we will always be to his memory.

A funeral mass will be at 10:30am on Saturday, August 6th at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 2541 Earl Rudder Fwy, College Station, TX. Graveside service will follow.

A separate memorial service will be held at 9:30am on Wednesday, August 10th in the Chapel at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 3513 N St NW, Washington, D.C.
