Shirley Ann Gent

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 5 at 9:00 a.m. with service to immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with Chaplain Gary Roe officiating. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.

Shirley was born July 31, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Ron David and Vera (Blayl) Wirt. Shirley was involved in school actives at Spring Branch High School in Spring, Texas; volleyball and track being her favorite. She was also Prom Queen of her school. She was a loving mother, not only to her kids and family but to so many others. She fought a good fight in her last days and lived those days for her family. Shirley was the heart of the family; her house was always filled with love and laughter.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray “Cowboy” Gent; daughter, Debra Sue Braswell; and two grandsons, James Greer and Jeffery Braswell.

She is survived by six sons, Milton “Bubba” Braswell and wife Sally of Kurten, Larry Braswell and wife Jessica of Caldwell, Tommy Braswell and wife Janlynn, David Braswell, Jimmy “J.R.” Gent and wife Lynette, Alvin “A.P.” Gent and wife Kayla all of Bryan; two daughters, Bonnie Greer and husband Norman, Robin Wolfe and husband Ricky all of Bryan; two brothers, Furdy Wirt and Flavis Wirt; sixteen grandchildren, Candy Gent and husband Timmy, Kim Allen and husband Doug, Jason Ballew and wife Maggie, Justin Braswell, Jenna Braswell, Joshua Braswell and wife Andrea, Jerome Braswell and wife Michelle, Jacob Braswell, Brandalynn Butler and husband Mark, Jordan Braswell and wife Tabitha, Sue Ferrell and husband Chase, Katrina Braswell and husband Jason, Crystal Grizzard and husband Lee, Jock Gent, Jake Gent, Jade Gent and husband Timmy; twenty-eight great-grandchildren, Brittany Braswell, Bethany Braswell, Elizabeth Janner, Jacob Braswell, Trent Braswell, Trey Braswell, Layla Butler, Mark Butler, Jaylin Gent, CJ Ferrell, Cody Ferrell, Collie Ferrell, Jamie Gent, Jonathan Allen, Jasmine Allen, Kennedy Knotts, Devin Braswell, Zoey Braswell, Alley Ballew, Angelina Ballew, Veronica Ballew, Tori Ballew, Haley Baggerly, Haven Baggerly, Alan Sevcik, Benjamin Gent, Megan Gent and Cheyenne Gent; one great-great-grandson, Cody Lawrenz; and numerous close family friends.
