Wesley “Wes” Jim Batson was carried home in the arms of his Savior on December 16, 2015. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, December 18th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with the Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 19th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Smetana Cemetery.
Wes was born to Jim & Liz Batson on October 22, 1968. They were delighted to finally have their baby boy after two girls. Wes lived his entire life in Bryan, Texas, graduating from Bryan High School in 1987.
Wes married his one true love, Kim Dean on July 9, 1993. To this marriage were born three children; Kaitlynn, Kyle, and Kaleb. Wes loved his children deeply. He was so proud of each of them and would do anything he could to help them be a success. The sparkle in his eyes when he gave his little girl, Kaitlynn her first car that he had secretly worked on for months was a delight to see. As was the pride and joy he expressed while watching his sons play their favorite sport – baseball.
Friends and family described Wes in two ways. First, he was a hard worker. No matter the job, Wes was willing to do whatever it took to get the task done. He believed his responsibility was to work hard and provide for his family and he did this so well. Wes enjoyed his work with Verizon as a technician, always helping others. His favorite work was the creations he made from wood. Creating new pieces and making old things new again.
Wes was also known as a fighter. Wesley fought diabetes from childhood and heart disease as an adult. His health would knock him down and he would fight his way back up and go again. Even to the end he was fighting to be with the ones he loved.
Wes is survived by his wife Kim and his children; Kaitlynn, Kyle, and Kaleb. He is also survived by his parents, Jim & Liz Batson; his “big” sisters and their spouses; Kim & Scott Sutphen, Sandy & Anthony Oehler, all of Bryan; mother & father-in-law Dino & Debbie Dean of Bryan, grandmother-in-law Dorothy Kucera of Bryan, sister-in-law & her husband Tiffani & Danny Neu of Harlingen. “Uncle Wes” could always bring a laugh to his many nieces and nephews and they will miss him dearly.
Wesley was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Baker and Mr. & Mrs. Glen Batson, all of Madisonville. Wes was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law Rochelle Dean and his grandparents-in law; Alton & Rose Marie Dean and Bill Kucera, all of Bryan.
Wes left us too early. His family still had so much life to live with him. He will walk with us each step as he lives on in our hearts and his memory lives with us for the rest of our lives. We are comforted by the knowledge that his body is healed and perfect and he is hard at work in the service of our Lord.
