

A proud United States Army Infantryman, he served honorably with Delta Company, 5th Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 199th Infantry Brigade during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant (E-5). As a combat soldier, he stood among those who carried the burden of the fight on the ground, facing the enemy with courage and resolve.
For his bravery and sacrifice in combat, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge, the mark of the American Infantryman who has met the enemy in battle.
His unit’s extraordinary valor was recognized with the Presidential Unit Citation and the Valorous Unit Award, along with the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal Unit Citation. His personal decorations also included the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He further qualified as Sharpshooter with both the M-14 and M-16 service rifles.
His service, sacrifice, and devotion to duty stand as a lasting testament to the honor of the American Infantry and the enduring legacy of those who served in Vietnam.
He had a passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing on the Verde River. He was an avid baseball fan and never missed a Diamondbacks game. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family. A man of simple pleasures, Dennis was rarely without his favorite Werther’s or Reese’s candy, and he was best known for his "famous" bean burritos, which were a staple at family gatherings.
His kind and generous spirit was evident to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and the importance of family, forever remembered as the heart of our family.
