Harmon Allen Claus, age 80, of Bullhead City, Arizona, passed away on January 13, 2026, after a brief time at Davis Place Senior Living.
Harmon was born on September 12, 1945, on the family farm, in Windsor, Colorado, to David and Leah Claus. He grew up in Colorado and graduated from Windsor High School in 1964. Following high school, Harmon attended airline school in Denver and continued his education at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, where he graduated in 1967 with a major in Business Administration.
Later that year, Harmon enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for three years. He completed basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas, followed by advanced training in supply operations at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He then received on-the-job training as a clerk typist at Fort Hood, Texas. On May 27, 1968, Harmon departed the United States for Vietnam, where he was assigned to the Orderly Room in Pleiku. He served until June of 1970. His service reflected a strong sense of duty, discipline and commitment.
After his service in the Army, Harmon entered the gaming industry and worked his way up through the ranks with his long-time employer, Harrah’s Club in Carson City, Nevada and for many years in the Laughlin, Nevada – Bullhead City, Arizona area, where he retired from Harrah’s Laughlin Casino in 2010.
In retirement, Harmon enjoyed traveling with friends and following his hometown Denver Broncos, caring for his home, doing leisurely activities, such as bowling and exploring the surrounding areas and backroads in his Jeep. Harmon had a keen sense of humor and savored keeping in touch with his long-time friends, Dan Sime and Linda Byrd.
Harmon was preceded in death by his mother, Leah Claus (Waag); father, David Claus and sister, Donna M. Nail (Claus).
He is survived by his nephews, Michael T. Nail (Roberta) and Tommy D. Nail (Lisa), both from Colorado and their families and a loving host of cousins.
There will be a memorial service, in Windsor, Colorado (TBD) and Harmon will be Interred at Fort Logan, National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
