Charlene Louise Baer

She was born on December 22, 1969, to the late Ray Hess and Nancy Wilcox. Charlene grew up in Baldwin Park, graduating from Baldwin Park High School in 1988. She was married to Paul McGrady from 1991 to 1993, and then married Jon Baer on July 19, 1997.

Charlene enjoyed a career in real estate and had a passion for interior design. She co-founded and co-owned J Baer Construction with her husband Jon, where she helped design numerous restaurants and residences in the greater Los Angeles area. She will be remembered most for the warmth she brought to every room she entered, the deep love she offered to everyone in her life, and her signature purple bangs. She was funny, fun-loving, and profoundly compassionate.

She is survived by her husband Jon Baer, son Matthew McGrady, daughter Zoë Baer, stepmother Dottie Hess, brothers Jeff Hess, Josh Johnson, and Andrew Hess, as well as three step-daughters: Mindy Orosco, Tonya Piceno, and Trisha McGrady.

Charlene’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013.
