Dorothy Blanche Gallup

Dorothy "Dottie" Blanche Gallup of Burbank, CA passed away on March 9, 2015 at an age of 103 years. She was born in C’oeur D’Alene, Idaho and lived most of her youth in San Diego. She lived in Burbank for 67 years and during that time she was employed by the Burbank Unified School District in Food Services. She worked until the age of 77 years. She was an active member of St. Finbar Catholic Church and in the activities of her four children who attended the church elementary school.

Dorothy was known for the hospitality she showed others. She was a great cook and always loved entertaining family and friends. She was a good listener and truly enjoyed hearing what others shared about their lives. Her children and grandchildren were her travel companions in her much-loved 1966 Ford Mustang on her many camping and road trips throughout California.

Dorothy is survived by her four children: Carol Ann Gerhard of Salem, OR; Nancy Strasser of Burbank, CA; Wally Gallup of Kailua-Kona, HI and Kathy Gallup (Scot Mende) of Sacramento, CA. Dorothy has seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Valley Funeral Home in Burbank. There will be a funeral Mass the following day at St. Finbar Catholic Church at 10:00 am followed by her burial at the San Fernando Mission in Mission Hills, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the charity of your choice in Dorothy’s memory.
