Elizabeth Louise Doyle

Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Doyle, 87 formerly of Glendale, CA passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Santa Marta Retirement Community, Overland Park, KS. Betty was born on May 4, 1928 in Raubsville, PA where she lived until moving with her parents to Philadelphia while she was a teenager. Following graduation from West Catholic Girls High School she worked in the rectory of a parish church in Philadelphia and also worked as a colorist painting highlights in oils on sepia photographic prints, a common practice before the extensive use of color print photography.

Betty married WWII veteran Mark Doyle at St. James Church in Philadelphia on June 16, 1951, after which they moved to Los Angeles where Betty was a homemaker. Mark found employment teaching at various colleges in the region. After he became a full-time professor of Anthropology and Sociology at Glendale Community College, they moved to Glendale in 1954 where they raised eight sons. Betty and Mark were very active in the community and at their church, Holy Family Catholic Church in Glendale. Betty was artistic her entire life and continually worked on crafts for Holy Family Church and various charities including the "Cathy Chapter" for the City of Hope. She loved to play the organ and her musically and artistically talented children and grandchildren owe much to her encouragement.

She is survived by her brother Tom Seigfried, eight sons and their wives, Dennis (Paula), Kevin (Cheri), Daniel (Marjorie), Greg (Lynne), Tim (Ellen), Christopher (Nancy), Terry (Rita), and Matthew (Diane) and sixteen grandchildren, Evan, Michael, Austin, Grace, Sarah, Anna, Brian, Kyle, Molly, Erin, Sean, Mark, Ryan, Megan, Emily, Rebecca and niece Christy Seigfried.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Seigfried, her husband of 50 years Mark Doyle and a grandchild, Kristin Mary Doyle.

The funeral Mass will be at Incarnation Catholic Church in Glendale on Monday, December 28 at 10AM.
