Posey Howard Bridges Jr.

Posey was affectionally known as "Howard or Sonny! His warm and giving personality was magnetic. The tales he told are forever imprinted in our minds and his and his ability to lighten the mood with his jokes can never be replicated.

He attended Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois, before joining the U.S Marine Corp. He served over twenty three years and retired as a Gy Sgt. During his service he received Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Metal with five, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Letter of Commendation, and letter of appreciation. He joined the Montford Point Marines Association and became a life member of the National Montford Point Marines, Los Angeles Chapter #8. After retirement he explored numerous job opportunities.

Posey was preceded in death by his mother Josephine Searcie Allen, Father Posey Bridges, a daughter Darlene Sutton, and two brothers Ralph Allen and Robert Allen Sr.

Posey leaves to mourn a daughter Cynthia Patterson of Kings Mountain NC, two grand children Brittnii Howell and Kyla Patterson both of Maryland, one great grand child, Ilyanna Howell-Marrow of Maryland a fiancé Donna Alvarez and her children Stephanie (Jarred), Gary (Jodi), Ruben, their children Nick Kayla, Rebecca, Julianna, Katy, and Jaidyn, three sisters, Dorothy Allen of Calumet City, Juanita Versher of Houston,Texas, and Helen Anderson of Chicago, Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
