Alexander Joseph Jerry Maslove

Dearest friends and family. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Alex Maslove on Saturday May 20th, 2023. Alex is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Pauline Maslove. Survived by his six sisters, many brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Alex was a husband of 43 years to his beloved high school sweetheart Melina. He was a loving father of three children: Natashia (John), Alexander (Laura), and Nicholas and grandpa to Alexander, Amelia and Lola. Alex was also a respected colleague and union member of Unifor Local 100 as a devoted 40-year employee of CN Rail.

Alex was born on April 28, 1959 and he grew up in East Vancouver he went to Britannia High school and was a national, wrestling champion. This is also, where he met his Melina. Alex had incredible strength and athletic ability and many will remember him as a devoted sports dad if they grew up in Burnaby. He never missed his kid’s hockey, softball or soccer game. He had a great sense of humour, and a giant heart. He loved his yard work and was very proud of his garden; he loved to have good debates and conversations about life and current events, most of all, Alex loved his family. He was most proud of his family and there is not anything that he would not do for them. He was a one of a kind. Though things may not have always been easy in his life, and life faced him with challenges he never let this get him down or stand in his way. He persevered during the toughest of times so he could be there for his family. He was a quiet strength and light in the lives of his family and everyone who knew him and loved him.

Alex will be remembered for his smile, his jokes, his opinions, his generosity, strength and his heart. He fought a 3-year battle with cancer and he fought with everything that he had. It is is a huge loss to our family but we have comfort knowing he is now at peace.

We would like to invite those who knew Alex and/family to attend his visitation and Funeral Mass. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8pm on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver. Entombment to follow at the Grand Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
