Alfonso Benedetto Crescenzo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfonso Benedetto Crescenzo on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014, with his family at his side. At the young age of 42 years, he lost his courageous and relentless battle with cancer. Alfonso will be remembered as a devoted husband to Barbara; loving proud father of Anthony, Isabella, and Cristina; wonderful son to Tony and his predeceased mother Letizia; caring brother to Agnes (Benny), Nina, and Anthony; proud uncle and godfather to Alessandra and Brienna; fun-loving uncle to many more nieces and nephews; and a loving family member to many cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family. Alfonso was an accomplished businessman in the food and forest industries (Nature's Path Foods, J.D. Sweid, Domtar, and Weldwood); influential coach for ICSF, Trojans Community Football, and his alma mater Notre Dame Secondary School; and a great friend, colleague, and mentor to many. People were always drawn to Alfonso's outgoing personality, easygoing nature, and contagious smile. He made an impact on everyone who came into contact with him. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Prayers will be offered at 8:00pm on Friday, March 7th at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 555 Slocan Street Vancouver, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow at the South Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park.
