It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred on March 26, 2012 in Burnaby, BC. He was born in Italy on November 25, 1935 and immigrated to Vancouver in 1956. He will be forever missed by Lillian, his loving wife of 53 years, sons Bruce and Albert (Yvonne), granddaughter Brittinie, sister-in-law Elin Johnson, brother Ampelio and other relatives in Italy, and cousins in North Vancouver. Predeceased by his Mother and Father, Teresa and Giuseppe and brother Pietro. Alfred was strong, generous, caring, intelligent, and above all an honest man respected by all who knew and worked with him. He began working in the logging industry on the British Columbia Coast in 1957, working for Weldwood Logging from 1961 to 1973. He then co-founded Wildwind Logging Ltd. and had a long and successful career until his retirement in 1993. He continued working at other interests despite his deteriorating health. He loved to garden in his spare time, watch sports on TV and when his granddaughter was born took great pleasure in watching her grow up. At Alfred's request, there will be no services other than a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
