Gemma and family, we are so sorry for your incredible loss. 
Alvin and Gemma were our children’s adopted grandparents when we lived in Vancouver. Alvin was always making our son, Baker, laugh and he spoiled him with many fun toys, especially cars!
Alvin had such a kind, gentle, and playful spirit. We feel so fortunate to have known him and to have had him in our lives. 
His spirit is at peace with the Lord now and he continues on in the memories we all hold in our hearts.

Kuya Alvin was not only our eldest sibling but also our father figure. As one of his youngest brother, I personally felt and experienced how kuya was very loving, supportive in all aspects of life. As a eldest sibling He was our protector and strenght.  As one of his youngest sibling, I had a lot of good memories with kuya, one of that was during my graduation in elememtary kuya was the one who bought, folded and stiched my trousers to make it fit on me and he also accompanied me on the stage to receive my Diploma, we both graduated in thesame school in elementary only that I am just ordinary graduates and kuya was valedectorian. Since childhood untill adulthood kuya was my Idol as I witnessed all his hardworks and determination to achieved all his dreams, when I failed my first board exam in engineering, he was the one who comfort me, he said to me" okey lang an noy, exam na sana otro", with his moral support I was able to retake and passed the exam. Untill we have our own family our constant communication never ended,  and  when he migrated to Canada, that was the time that we never see each other for almost 15 years, thanks to internet as our communication never stop. Untill one day in year 2012/2013, he was crying when he phoned me, I was shocked because I never see in my whole life that he cry.  Untill he open up to me that he was diagnosed of pancreas cancer and just have two months to live, That was the time that I need to be strong for him as I know  that time that Kuya Alvin needs me to make him strong and dont loss hope, I just told him that prayers is the only best thing that we can do. And all ours prayers to kuya Alvin was answered, God gave him another 9 years  to live after his first diagnoses. Im still thankful that I was able to see, hug and express my gratitude to you in person. Kuya thank you for your sacrifices, support, guidance, unconditional love and protection  that you gave us as your youngest siblings. We gonna miss you. Rest in Peace Kuya.

Many years ago when Alvin became a member of the "Victoria Drive Bunch" he immediately met all the required expectations of its' members!  His keen sense of adventure and willingness to "go with the flow" soon made him Honourary Grand Poobah.  Over the years these adventures involved travel by land, sea and air......  everything from camping in the wilderness of B.C. to enjoying the sights and sounds of Las Vegas and San Francisco.

Many of these sojourns were made while he was facing serious health issues, but Alvin never complained and was always eager to partake in the next planned activity.

We are all so very thankful for Alvin's laughter, kindness, sincere nature and friendship.  We know that Alvin would  insist that during this difficult time we do whatever we can to help our friend Gemma

Alvin, rest assured we will!

Uncle Alvin was adventurous, generous, and family-oriented. We will remember him for his love for travelling and outdoor activities with family. Our favourite memories were the long drives, camping, sand-duning in Oregon, river rafting in Interior BC, and so much more. 

Thank you for bringing the family together so many times with these outdoor activities and with your house parties. We will never forget you and all the fun times we had together. 

We love you Uncle Alvin, may you rest in peace.

Alvin's  zest for life was was second to none.   I send my sincere condolences to Gemma ( his rock and stay ), his family and his many friends.  Alvin will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
