With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Angelita Cervantes de Guzman, our beloved mom, sister, aunt, grand-aunt, godmother, cousin and friend.
Angelita was born on March 1st, 1939 in Cabuyao, Laguna Philippines. She came to Canada, where she lived for over 50 years with her family. She left us to join our Lord on March 3rd, 2025 in Surrey, BC.
She is survived by her daughter, Mylene, her son Joel (Erneida), as well as her sisters Narcenina (Narciso - Mike, Myla, Marvin) and Ehya (Mark - Dianne, Mark, Fatima) her niece Krizzia and grand-niece Zoey. She is predeceased by her parents Wenceslau and Paola, stepmother Crisanta, her brothers Ricardo (Gertrudes - Genalyn), Carlos (Adora - Carlos, Mhay) and sister Erlinda.
Angelita was an alumnus of University of the Philippines, earning accounting and teaching degrees, as well as University of the East, where she received a graduate commerce degree. She emigrated to Vancouver, BC, Canada with her beloved husband, Perpetuo, and her two young children on May 11th, 1974 and settled in Surrey BC.
Throughout her life, she demonstrated a strong work ethic, sense of gratitude and contribution. She had an intense devotion to her family and circle of close friends. She worked tirelessly, and always in the background, preferring to elevate and amplify those around her rather than stand in the spotlight herself.
Our mom loved our father and our family so very deeply, worked hard and made sure we wanted for nothing. She was a kind and caring person, who always put the welfare of others before herself. Following traumatic brain injuries, she was the primary caregiver for both her husband and her sister. She cared for them gently, patiently and without any complaints or regret. She was always gracious, forgiving, and affectionate, even under the most difficult circumstances.
She was so loved by so many, and we in turn will love her and miss her forever.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to one of the charities important to her: The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Kidney Foundation of Canada, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
