Anita Lekhraj

Born November 22, 1945 as Mona Shewram, she would marry and become Anita Gope Lekhraj as we all knew her, or “Aunty Anita” as so many of the children in the community would fondly call her.

She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, but also known as Dadi, Nani, sister, daughter, aunty, niece, friend, & confidant to so many others.

Although small in size, she was big at heart. Her kindness and patience showed no limit, and her strength was only masked by her gentle demeanor. The love for her family and friends was unconditional and unwavering. This love extended to friends she made wherever she went; throughout her travels, with a strong commitment to always be ‘in touch’ & stay ‘connected’. She bonded well & treated everyone like family, constantly showing it through her generosity and amazing cooking skills.

As she moves on to her next dimension, she leaves behind her husband Gope, children Prakash, Naresh & Diya, grandchildren Jashan & Naisha. Mom, we will treasure our memories of you beyond measure, and we know that you will always shine bright upon us, forever guiding us along with every star in the sky.

Our love is everlasting and will continue to grow in our hearts, and will reunite through the grace of God knowing that you will be the first to embrace us.
