Mrs. Ann Blechert Schabernig

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Best Friend.

Ann was predeceased by her husband and Soul Mate Ewald; sons Hank and Paul; and daughter-in-law Darlene.

She is survived by her sons Len (Trish), Ray (Becky); daughters Rita (Allan), Joanne (Pierre), Carol (Boo-Boo); daughter-in-law Linda (Oscar); sister Elena and their extended family; 14 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; and 5 Granddogs.

A special thank-you to Donna who was the glue that held us together when we got tired.

Also left behind are many wonderful friends who made life a brighter, happier place to be. Mom always had a smile when she spoke your names, Rowena & Leslie, Frank & Ellen, Kurt & Liz, Rosario & Hans, Rolly & Bente, Eileen, Karl & Gerti, Vic. You truly made a difference in her life.

Mom lived life and always had a purpose. Her favourite saying was “God has given me a job to do on earth and I have lots of unfinished business”. Mom treasured her family and always gave of herself tirelessly in her cause to help us be strong, independent, loving and compassionate to others. We hope we will honour your memory with what you have taught us.

Mom’s favourite pastime was to travel. Before she lost her beloved husband Ewald, they both travelled all over the world experiencing such places as Australia, Egypt, Russia, Peru, and many other exotic locations. In later years we her children were fortunate enough to travel to some of these wonderful places and have the most incredible memories.

Our family is deeply grateful and in awe of the wonderful care provided to Mom from Dr. Heather Leyen and her staff throughout this journey. We were also so amazed and fortunate to spend out last weeks with Mom at the Cascade Hospice where we were able to concentrate on just loving our Dear Mother while warm compassionate staff took care of all her needs.

A Viewing will take place from 9:30am – 11:30am on Monday June 20th at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC, followed by entombment in South Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park.
